A Lamborghini boat has finally made its way to the North American market. The Italian supercar maker and the Italian super boat producer Tecnomar have announced their intention to collaborate in 2020 to construct a small series of premium boats worldwide. One of these completed boats to be sold in the United States is now docked in South Florida, awaiting its first buyer.
Its name, Tecnomar of Lamborghini 63, may be interpreted in many ways. The yacht is 63 feet long, can reach speeds of up to 63 knots (equivalent to around 72 miles per hour on land), and production is limited to only 63 units. However, this is no mere coincidence; instead, it is a hidden reference to 1963, when Ferruccio Lamborghini established his eponymous automaker. Each of the around five hundred ships has a base price of about $3.5 million before adding personalised touches like paint jobs, flooring, and upholstery. More Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63s is on the way, according to Miami-based Prestige Marine, which AD says delivered them. The boat’s standout features are the brand’s trademark Lamborghini styling. The premium vessel’s interior and exterior are both covered in hexagonal patterns. It has the Y-shaped headlights of the brand’s Sián supercar, a cockpit reminiscent of a jet fighter, two racing-inspired pilothouse seats, and V-12 propulsion. Unlike any Lamborghini supercar currently in production, the Techomar is equipped with not one but two of these engines, each powered by diesel fuel and generating roughly 2,000 horsepower.
Lamborghini has dabbled in the ocean before. In 1968, Ferruccio Lamborghini commissioned a small boat from the famous Italian shipbuilder Riva and fitted it with a pair of 4.0-litre V-12 motors from his iconic sports cars. This was five years after he founded his namesake car firm. A 7.2-litre V-12 marine engine, designed for use in powerboats, was later made by the brand. The LM002, a ridiculous super-SUV built in small quantities that served as a forerunner to the company’s current best-seller, the Urus SUV, sometimes used this engine in the 1980s and 1990s.
The Lamborghini-Tecnomar yacht joins the ranks of other luxury manufacturers like Aston Martin and Mercedes-go-fast Benz’s division AMG that have developed comparable limited edition high-end boats. These vessels are a part of a more significant movement among luxury automobile manufacturers to establish branded lifestyle experiences wherever their customers wish to be. This movement has already resulted in the construction of residential towers by companies like Aston Martin, Bentley, and Porsche, as well as the production of home furnishings by Bugatti and an extensive line of fashionable clothing and accessories by Ferrari. The whole range of Lamborghini Tractors, the first vehicle firm formed by Ferruccio in the years immediately after World War II in Italy and still in production today, should not be ignored in this setting. Even though we know, there isn’t a vehicle big enough to pull this superyacht, the chance to advertise both brands seems too good to pass up.
